Overview

This course is a study of Lum'ah al-I'tiqad by Imam Ibn Qudamah al-Maqdisi, covering the obligation to accept the ayat and ahadith related to Allah's attributes, and the way of the salaf and their imams in this regard. Students will study the order to follow the sunnah and the warning against innovation, the ayat and ahadith concerning Allah's attributes, the Kalam of Allah, and the position that the Qur'an is the Kalam of Allah.

The course also covers seeing Allah in the Hereafter, Qada and Qadar, the reality of iman, and the obligation to believe in what the Messenger (ﷺ) has informed us of, along with matters concerning the Prophet (ﷺ) and his companions. It concludes with the rulings on obeying the Muslim leader, abandoning the people of innovation, and the distinction between taqlid and ijtihad.
